what passes for entertainment in our house

I like the science of cooking and I like to bugger about with ingredients to see what happens. I bought some artificial sweetener and used it fairly successfully in baked goods and sauces so, as I had some egg whites hanging about in the fridge I thought Id see what happened if I made meringue. I could tell from the uncooked mixture that it wasnt going to be *exactly* like a proper meringue but nothing ventured, nothing gained (and the oven was on anyway).

Yeh.

Luckily I'd also made a batch of cupcakes with regular sugar, so we ate those instead.
