Four Go Mad In Cornwall.

2007-05-21, 9:56 p.m.
Just a quickie, folks, as Im abso-chuffin-lutely knackered and cant think of anything clever to say.

Drove down to Cornwall on Friday night after work - traffic not too heinous and it only took 4 hours (245 miles), we were sat in the bar of our pub/hotel thingy at ten past nine. Very nice (if a bit basic) room and very laid back and friendly staff. They gave us a back door key when we went out (just down the road to Tom and Tam's - for more drink and some smokin of the big fat ones), just in case we "got back a bit late". Cant imagine that happening in a Travelodge (or the Savoy or the Waldorf Astoria, both of which Ive stayed in!).

In the morning, BF and I went down to St Ives for a mooch around.

This wouldve been a good photo had a crusty old bloke not ambled into view at the last second.....Wha'?.....NO! I mean the one ON THE SAND! The one leaning on the railings and carrying a new rubbery thing for his Squirrel-Scaring Catapult is the lovely BF! (Just on a side issue: there's nothing quite so funny as seeing 'Trapper BF' sneak up on a squirrel.....Load the catapult and pull back the sling-thingy.....and.....PYOINNNNGGG! the rubber instantly perishes and breaks and twangs off the catapult and whacks the BF in the whitlow. Hee h'hee h'hee hee!)

Met up with Tom and Tam as Tom was busking in St Ives on Saturday. Here he is:

Me and Tam stood around whooping and cheering and pretending we didnt know him just to whip the crowd up a bit. But we didnt put any money in his case. He'd probably only spend it on drugs. There was a nice american lady chatting to him when we left. In the time honoured fashion (with many apologies to my lovely transatlantic cousins who DONT do this!), she was starting every question with "Do you know...." and then inserting the names of people who once used to play the guitar and/or lived in the British Isles.

Once the Cup Final started, BF and Tom went off to watch it in the pub (Tom wasnt really all that bothered but....well...its a guy thing, isnt it!) and me and Tam went walking up the cliffs and a-chattin and a-eatin of HUGE ice-creams and a-sniggerin at the men folks. Here's the photos (including some obviously mental surfers as there wasnt even very much surf and the water was, like Icy Degrees Coldigrade. Thats Minus Chilly Degrees FahrenHolySHITEItsCold in US terms.

Nice, isnt it!

Saturday night, Tom cooked us a meal of pasta and garlic bread and we got really much more stoned than could be deemed strictly necessary. I made a dessert from "What I Found at The Co-Op on the Way Back", which was strawberries, cherries and raspberries, three or four Cadbury's Flakes crumbled on top and a *ahem* "sauce" made from whisky and brown sugar. Mostly whisky.

Topped it off with some clotted cream (naturally!). Yum. Me and Tam ended the evening eating clotted cream out of the tub. I could almost hear my arteries weeping.

Tam will probably kill me for this but Im doing it anyway. During a discussion on the differences of appearance between the two of us, she made herself some very fetching false eyelashes from Rizla papers.

Here they are:

Im sure you'll agree, she looks instantly more glamorous. But she's fabulous anyway so she really doesnt need them. So there. And she said she's sing at my wedding which is further proof that she and Tom are TOP!

Next day we went to Penzance. It was shut. Apart from the sweetie shop so I got some clotted cream fudge and toffees for Jooj and Treacle.

Tom and Tam made us a Vegetarian Roast Dinner and then we came home. 3 and a half hours on the way back. I snoozed a bit so I didnt get the opportunity to screech "FUCKING SLOW DOWN WILL YOU!" at BF.

and it was Sooooooooo lovely to be back to work today.

NOT!
