Only able to shuffle about in the kitchen?
Bit bored? Bit hungry?
Lets make COOOOOOOOKIIEEEEEEEEES!!!!!
First off, pre-heat the oven to 180C (300F?/Gas Mark 4) and assemble your ingredients:
Thats
Melt the butter and golden syrup on a low heat on the stove
When its melted take it off the heat and stir in the bicarbonate of soda/baking powder. Itll go kind of foamy and weird dont be alarmed! Look!
Add all the other ingredients just dump em in, no need to be precious
Give everything a good stir around and itll make a kind of gooey lump
With a teaspoon, take out dollops. Squish em together a bit and put them on a baking tray. Leave some room between as sometimes they spread out WAY more than youre expecting
Put them in the preheated oven for about five minutes theyll puff up a bit
So you might want to stick your hand right into the hot oven and pat them down a bit flatter. You might not want to. I usually do. See!
Cook them for another 3 5 minutes and then take em out and cool them on a rack. Theyll be as crumbly as hell when you try to get them off the tray so go careful, but they do firm up nicely once theyre cool.
Scoff. With a nice cup of tea. (makes about two dozen)
Cooks Notes:
If you use slightly less flour and oats, youll get a thinner crisper cookie which will spread out at an alarming rate but will still be delicious. Kind of like a brandy snap but more substantial.
You can add a couple of handfuls of chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the mixture if you like but dont bother adding raisins they tend to bob to the surface and bake hard and look a bit like rabbit poo.
If you havent got any oats, you can use a mug of muesli-type breakfast cereal (Alpen or something like that), it works really well and you can kind of pretend that theyre Healthy Cookies. Pick the raisins out if youre using muesli (see above ref to rabbit poo).
Enjoy.

PS Not sure what golden syrup is? Click on it up there in the ingredients list and you should get a link to a description. Im not sure what the US equivalent is. 'Light cane syrup' maybe?
